Selected, Gerrit Rietveld Academie Awards Show

In collaboration with Looiersgracht 60, the Rietveld Academy presents SELECTED: an exhibition of their graduating students who have been nominated for GRA awards. Every year the Rietveld Academy organises the GRA awards in order to celebrate students who have created inquisitive, context aware and thought provoking work of a high standard. This year, the winning students were chosen by an independent jury consisting of Barbara Visser, Jeroen Boomgaard, Hans den Hartog Jager, Radna Rumping, Nico Feragnoli, Johan Gustavsson, Kirsten Algera and Lernert & Sander. SELECTED is realised in order to support and encourage students in further developing their independent art practice.

Creating opportunities for young artists and recent graduates to exhibit their work is one of Looiersgracht 60’s core concerns. Presenting the GRA Awards together with the Rietveld Academy speaks to both organisations’ shared commitment to promoting young talent that redefines and transgresses boundaries. Coming together for the first time this year at Looiersgracht 60, SELECTED presents the work of eleven graduates:

Opening: Friday September 23 at 17:00
Ben Zegers (artist and Board of Directors Gerrit Rietveld Academie) and Jeroen Boomgaard (art historian, critic and head of Master Artistic Research at the Universiteit van Amsterdam) 
will give a speech.
