Seeing without a Seer x Unseen Open Gallery Night
22 September 2018
On 22 September Looiersgracht 60 is open until 22:00 as part of Unseen Amsterdam’s Open Gallery night. The night is part of Unseen’s City Programme – an interactive citywide event aimed at encouraging visitors to experience photography at leading organisations throughout Amsterdam. Looiersgracht 60’s current exhibition, realised in collaboration with research-based art cooperative Radical Reversibility, has been selected to participate in the programme. ‘Seeing without a Seer’ seeks counterstrategies to our habits of visual representation in a post-digital age. Drawing on a wide variety of disciplines - psychology, biology, geometry and philosophy - the lens-based works in the exhibition usurp the viewer from the central position to which s/he has become accustomed and explore alternative ways of looking, thinking and image-making.
