A Gestural History of the Young Worker, Print Punch
Werker Collective
29 April 2023

Public Event: 16:00-19:00

Presentation: 17:00

For the second public event of the Public Research Residency II with Werker Collective, Looiersgracht 60 is pleased to present the launch of A Gestural History of the Young Worker, a long-belabored artist publication that followed from the installation of the same name. Published in collaboration with Spector Books over the past four years, the publication has been produced with a meticulous approach to the printing techniques and content. Included in the publication are archival images of the body at work, questioning our relationship to glorification and oppression of certain bodies, along with a contextual appendix of the images and an essay from Georgy Mamedov.

Accompanying the launch, is also a presentation of a special edition of prints called A Gestural History of the Young Worker, Print punch (2023). The special edition of prints is being produced at Looiersgracht 60, alongside a visualization of an on-going research into alternative economic models for art practices. The conversation surrounding this model is based on fair remuneration and redistribution of resources for artists, collaborators and art galleries, and takes in consideration the larger ecology in which collaborative art practices function in the art world.
