From Seeing to Acting - Performative Lecture and Conversation

2 October 2021

From Seeing to Acting, is the second group exhibition organized in collaboration with Radical Reversibility, a Dutch art and research collective that investigates the connection between image and perception. From Seeing to Actingproposes a paradigm shift in the ways we perceive and process visual information. The installations, videos, photographs, and sculptures on display engage our moving bodies, challenge our points of view, and encourage us to see beyond the surface of objects.

In conjunction with the exhibition art historian Ilse van Rijn (NL) will give a performative lecture titled Fire, or How to Get Rid of Those Embarrassing Graphic Markers. The lecture is centered around the topic of living in and writing with a more-than-human world. The lecture will be followed by a conversation between Van Rijn and Martine Stig (NL), artist and co-founder of Radical Reversibility, about their collaboration and their respective works Fire (short story) and The Reflection of the Man (video essay) that are currently on view in From Seeing to Acting.

The performative lecture and subsequent conversation will begin at 16:00 on Saturday October 2. Attendance for the lecture and conversation is free of charge, however, seating is limited. Please reserve a place by emailing us at info@looiersgracht60.org. Please note that according to Dutch governmental COVID regulation we will need to check proof of vaccination or a negative test result from 'Testen voor Toegang' upon entering our public programming events. We thank you for your understanding.
